Here's an idea for gigabit Internet in Austin!
Delivery of Archival Resources
The Austin History Center and many other archives around the city have unique bandwidth intensive resources that could be delivered to homes, classrooms, and other cultural institutions using a gigabet fiber network. Exposure of these assets could produce new ideas and scholarship as well as be entertaining and fun to explore for all ages. Included among the resources would be music, film, and television productions and thousands of photographic images and maps. Making this treasure trove available could lead to other collaborative projects involving dozens of cultural heritage institutions in Austin. Wouldn’t it be fun to see images and ask the community to help identify the people, places, and time periods they recognize in the photos?
